Bio

Eng. Irene Kaggwa Sewankambo was appointed Acting Executive Director of the Uganda Communications Commission in February 2020.  Irene is also substantively the Director of Engineering and Communications Infrastructure at the Commission. She possesses a vast experience spanning over 21 years in policy development, research, regulation and implementation in various aspects of ICT development. She has served in different roles at the different levels of management in the organisation. An engineer by profession, Irene holds a Master of Science in Communications Systems and Signal Processing from the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom and a Master of Science in Economic Management and Policy (Business Economic Pathway) from the University of Strathclyde in the United Kingdom. She acquired her Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Makerere University in Kampala.
